A Tribute to Golden Girl, Bea Arthur

One of television’s funniest ladies passed away on Saturday at the age of 86. Perhaps best known as Maude Findlay from the 70’s show, Maude, and of course Dorothy Zbornak on the massive hit, The Golden Girls, Bea Arthur was a staple on TV for many decades beaeven going so far as to star in the much lauded and oft ridiculed Star Wars Holiday Special. Between her appearances on Maude and The Golden Girls, Bea starred on a poorly-received US version of Fawlty Towers called Amanda’s. Later, in the 90’s and 2000’s, Bea made appearances on Malcolm in the Middle and as a voice on Futurama. Here are some of Bea’s finer moments; let’s all remember and laugh together.

Here’s Bea in her shining moment with a ‘Cantina Band’ from the Star Wars Holiday Special:

Here’s a little Bea with Diff’rent Strokes alum Conrad Bain and Rue McLanahan, later co-starring on The Golden Girls:

Here’s Bea and Rock Hudson singing a tune:

Bea and her classic ‘Woah’s’ from The Golden Girls:

Bea and an epic Telethon failure:

An interview with Bea from 2001 about her induction into TV’s Hall of Fame:

And here’s Bea and Angela Lansbury from the Broadway musical, Mame:

… and one of her finest moments, in the roast of Pamela Anderson on Comedy Central. (NSFW)

  2. A friend sent me this link, it contains some of Bea Arthur’s last interview.
I saw you on the tribute site and I thought you might like it.

We need to find out how to contact Merv Griffin Productions and see if entire interview will be aired.
I’d hate for an full interview with Bea to go unseen. Pass it along maybe we can get the interview seen.

    All the best,
    Stephen
