Contributor_ProgramThis document is intended to describe our contributor program. We recognize that good people, and good content are what make any site successful, so for that reason we have created this contributor program in order to continually provide original content to our audience. We appreciate your contribution to the site, and we are very flexible with our team. You are free to write about anything that fits into our six categories, and you may contribute as little or as much as you want. We won’t pressure anyone to create content, because honestly you are all helping us out.

Compensation

We believe in dedicating our time and resources back into the site and helping to make it grow. This contributor program is one such example of how we are doing that. We want to make this relationship mutually beneficial, so in order to compensate you for your efforts, we have three methods:

  1. Traffic / Links from Gunaxin – If you have your own website, this is one of the main ways that you can benefit from being a contributor:
    • Link Dumps – We do a regular link dump called “Gunaxin’s Happy Funtime Links“. Send your links into Tips@Gunaxin.com, and contributors will be given preferential treatment to be included.
    • Links in your Articles – One of the best ways to drive traffic to your site would be to create content on Gunaxin that highlights your own content. For example, if you have something really good, then you could just create an article on Gunaxin to highlight it, like this :  1, 2, 3, 4. However you could also create an original piece of content that is more of a hybrid, original content with links in it, like this: 1, 2.
    • Links in our Content : In addition, if your site has content that is related to something you see on Gunaxin, let us know and we can add a link to it. Especially when we get a big link from another site (Extra Mustard, Gorilla Mask, etc.), or go front page on Digg, we have been very successful driving some of that traffic to other sites with links from that content. Examples: 1, 2, 3.
  2. Prizes / Promotions – We have several relationships with promotional companies that are very interested in our ability to help them promote. In exchange for us highlighting their stuff, we can get samples / prizes. Each works in a different way, but typically it is for a DVD, CD, T-Shirts, etc. We even have done promotions for Vodka and Tequila. We normally are able to get one prize for a Gunaxin reader, and another prize for the author of the article. When one of these offers comes in, we will e-mail contributors about the promotion, and the first person to respond and say they will do something, will get first crack at it. However if we commit to these companies that we are going to do their promotion, you really have to deliver because our name is on the line, and we want to stay on their lists for the future. Here are some examples : 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.
  3. Cash – We are currently paying $1 per article + $2 per 1,000 page views. Each month we use Google Analytics to determine how many page views your content received in the previous month. We then will send you payment via PayPal for the traffic that your content achieves. To give you an example, if you submit a unique article that does VERY well, it could get 100,000 page views. We have several dozen articles do that volume or higher. With 100,000 page views, that article is worth $201. However most articles will probably be in the 1,000 – 10,000 page view range, so more like $3.00 to $21.00 per. We aim to compensate our contributors as fairly as possible, and as our advertising revenue increases, so too will our rate for contributions.

So as you can see, this isn’t a get rich quick scheme, but if you enjoy writing / creating content, or you want to give some exposure to your own site, or earn some free merchandise, then this is a good opportunity for you. We have averaged 2 Million Page views per month recently, so we have the ability to get your content noticed.
