Honda’s Rube Goldberg Ad

This is hardly a new ad, but it’s something I recently remembered and thought would be cool for those would haven’t seen it. Titled “Cog,” its a two minute Honda ad highlighting the famous Rube Goldberg’s concept. For those that don’t know, a Rube Goldberg device is a deliberately over-engineered apparatus that performs a very simple task in a very complex fashion. This one is constructed entirely of auto parts, appropriate for Honda.

It was created in April of 2003 and took a reported 606 takes before every little step of the machine worked perfectly. Yes, it’s 100% real, even Snopes looked into it. True Rube Goldberg followers would never edit a video to fake a perfectly functioning machine. So check out the Honda Rube Goldberg commercial….
