Orthodox Jewish Barbie
I was intent on making a gallery of the women of Passover, but my Google image search yielded zero results. Instead I found something else that struck my eye – an orthodox Jewish Barbie doll. Well, it can be argued whether she is truly orthodox or not, because most orthodox forbid women from wearing tefillin. But it’s safe to say that if she were around during the Exodus, the men would’ve followed her to the Promised Land, not Moses. She can be a part of my minyan any day. Funny . . . but actually the OPPOSITE of “Orthodox” Barbie. She looks more like “egalitarian Conservative Barbie.” Don’t think you’d see an Orthodox woman in tefillin and talit, reading from the Torah . . .
