Phelps and Caz split

Apparently the new photos of Caz Pal floating around the internet over the past few days weren’t really of Caroline “Caz” Pal, Michael Phelps new girlfriend. So who was the mystery girl?

The astute Regis and Kelly watchers over at Sports by Brooks noted today:

So Kelly Ripa asked Phelps about being trailed by paparazzi and recently spotted with his girlfriend at the airport. Phelps bristled when he heard Ripa’s comment, and went onto to claim that the Asian woman in question seen in paparazzi photos with Phelps this week was not his girlfriend, Caz Pal: “The photographers post this girl up next to me as I get out of the car and she follows me in. I’ve never seen her before in my life.” Phelps also confirmed to Ripa that he was no longer seeing Pal: “I’m not seeing anyone now.”

Ok, so first of all, bravo to the paparazzi on this one. In retrospect this girl is much cuter than the real Caz Pal, and we would all prefer to see more photos of her if possible. However they did fool even the best of us.

Is Michael Phelps being set up by a girl who’s in cahoots with the paparazzi to make it look like she’s dating the Olympic golden boy? “Extra” is going with true on that one! The sexy swimmer stopped by “Live with Regis and Kelly” to talk about his book, “No Limits: The Will to Succeed.” The conversation turned to photos that were snapped of him — and a girl he doesn’t even know! “I’ve never seen her before in my life,” Phelps said on the show. “You guys are pretty original!” Michael said in an apparent message to the people who set him up. “Post somebody up next to me to make it look like we’re together!” Phelps also revealed that this was not the first run-in he’s had with the Las Vegas cocktail waitress. “They were following us all day — it was nuts!”

But what of this other bombshell that Phelps released, “I’m not seeing anyone now.” Just two weeks ago Caz Pal was passing the gravy to Momma Phelps at the Thanksgiving table, and now she has been kicked to the curb? In a state of disbelief, we sought out a source to confirm that part of the story:

Despite bringing Las Vegas cocktail server Carolynn Pal home for Thanksgiving, Michael Phelps says he’s single. “I’m not seeing anybody,” the Olympic gold medalist said on Friday’s Live With Regis and Kelly.

Guess that relationship didn’t last long, as Caroline Pal was just in US Weekly magazine this past week. Do you think it maybe had something to do with photos like these?
