The Girls of Canada Day
The Fourth of July is celebrated as America’s birthday and Independence Day, but did you know that July 1 is celebrated as Canada’s Birthday? If you didn’t, now you know. And knowing is half the battle.
Known generally as Canada Day (formally Dominion Day), it celebrates the anniversary of the July 1, 1867 enactment of the British North America Act of 1867. The Act united Canada as a single country of (then)four provinces. If you needed an excuse to celebrate something this Wednesday, there you go. Wear your toque, play some ice hockey, toss in some “eh?”s and wish your neighbors to the north a happy birthday!
