6Q: Terry Porter

Six Questions with:

Terry Porter – Former NBA Player

Terry Porter is a professional basketball coach and former player in the NBA. A native of Wisconsin, he played college basketball at the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point before being drafted 24th by the Portland Trail Blazers in the 1985 NBA Draft. In Portland he played ten seasons with two All-Star Game appearances, and spent 17 years in the NBA as a player. Following his retirement as a player in 2002, he began coaching in the league and has twice been a head coach, first with his hometown Milwaukee Bucks, and then with the Phoenix Suns up until February 16, 2009.

I loved watching the NBA in the late 80’s and 90’s. To me that was a great era for the NBA, and it featured athletes like former Trail Blazer, Terry Porter. I recently had the occasion to speak with Terry, who is working with Captain Morgan for the One Million Pose Challenge. Porter, Captain Morgan, and hundreds of Trail Blazers fans were on the court at the Rose Garden to attempt to break the Guinness World Record for “most people standing on one leg simultaneously” at the Trail Blazer’s game against LA on Wednesday, Feb 23rd. For more info check out the Captain Morgan Facebook Page.
